Since I released Cyberpunk 3776 I was wondering if I could come up with another nice little shoot em up game. The project used to be called Mileage before – lately I came up with a different plan for that name so…. Foxhunt reuses some assets and is settled in the “Nitro Acid” Universe as fast paced Shoot em Up with vehicles instead of the good old Sci Fi theme. I worked on this prototype for a few weeks but at some point I felt like it’s going to end up in a huge content battle which is hard to fight alone, especially working on a game for a probably quite small niche market. I still like the basic idea and maybe the gameplay elements will make a comeback within my “Nitro Acid” project someday. So far I implemented a repeatable backdrop made out of several segments, simple AI behaviour, minefields, a shop to buy equipments and you could even ram opponent vehicles of the track to drive into oblivion. Foxhunt was made using Unity 4.6 and Playmaker.
Since I really admire the work and effort musicians put into supporting indie devs I wanted to show of their involvement prominent within the game so I added a cassette player in the mainmenu where the player could change tracks and get the according musician’s name and coverart shown. All so I kinda like working on unique UI’s from time to time.
